Dr. William Sinkford
Dr. William Sinkford was elected President of the Unitarian Universalist Association in 2001. He has taken up the challenge of examining the spiritual core for our denomination, which both includes and welcomes persons from a variety of religious backgrounds from traditional Judeo-Christianity to eastern and earth-centered religions to atheism.
As a guest in the pulpit at First Jefferson in January 2003, Dr. Sinkford issued a call for Unitarian Universalists to reclaim "some language that would allow us to capture the possibility of reverence, to name the holy...."
His sermon provoked a great deal of interest both inside and outside of the First Jefferson congregation and the denomination. The following documents are an introduction to this interesting and important conversation:
